Hi all I’ve been dealing
With a bullying at work from my boss for over 2 years and in January I finally put a formal complaint in and he resigned - apparently he got a new job. In the 3 months he has been working notice he has been horrible and even though I complain my organisation say he is leaving stop thinking about him. Today two days before he is leaving I have started to take anti depressants as I feel so low and I’m always crying. I took my first tablet last night and I felt awful throughout the night and morning - all my friends and partner say I am taking the antidepressants too early as they believe as soo. As he goes I will feel much better but I’m scared I will get more depressed.

Should I stop taking the antidepressants and wait and see how I feel after he leaves or concentrate so n me continue to take the medication and the side effects will pass soon

Sorry to hear about this bully, if he's having this effect on you could you ask to be separated from him or get signed off sick? But I don't think you are wrong to try antidepressants if you are struggling. Well done for recognising that you need more help. People sometimes have a negative reaction to antidepressants, whereas if you had a headache noone would tell you to hold off taking a paracetamol until you were in unbearable pain.

By the way, you might feel better after this person leaves, but you might not. Sometimes you can feel worse once a stressful situation has ended because you are "safe" and only then do you let yourself really think about what's happened. Can you talk to your GP if you are unsure what to do?

For me the side effects wore off really quickly, day one was the worst and I had diarrhea, then for the next week I felt quite agitated and was clenching my teeth. Now I'm fine apart from I'm occasionally aware of clenching my teeth. I'm glad I stuck it out.

Thank you so much for posting /I haven’t spoke. To my boss since I complained but he has used over ways to get at me - very childish. I think you are right I have no idea how i will feel when he leaves - I’m hoping I can just move on! I felt awful last night abs this morning - soooooo bad - I’m hoping it gets better
