My depression is creeping back up on me

I feel dreadful. It's slowly creeping in I can feel it and I'm scared.

I started taking sertraline approx six months ago half a tablet and then recently I increased to a full one but I see the signs of my depression coming back.

Only mildly but it's the early stages I know it, get home tired - can't be bothered to do anything or interact with anyone.

Has anyone had a relapse on sertraline if so what did you do?

Firstly it's really good that you've recognised this and want to take action.

Get to your doctors tomorrow. Tell them what you've put here. See what they say.

Have you explored any talking therapies?

sometimespeopletakethepiss · 07/02/2022 22:53

@D0lphine I'm the past I've seen two counsellors. I feel it's temporary whereas my depression is more chemical so I don't feel like the talking helps long term. It's a good temporary relief but about it.

I also have thyroid issue and think it may be out of whack influencing how I feel. I don't want to talk to the doctor I don't feel like they help and they just throw more meds at you I don't want that

Sorry you're feeling this way.

Is there anything you've tried in the past that's worked?

sometimespeopletakethepiss · 08/02/2022 07:59

@D0lphine yes the only thing worked is the medication but now it's slowly stoping being as effective. I'm gutted don't really know where to turn. On the positive note it IS still working, just less effective than when I first started taking it

You need a medication review, make the call.
And well done for recognising it, and taking positive action.
Do you do anything else for your MH like counselling or gym etc ?

sometimespeopletakethepiss · 08/02/2022 08:43

@GeneLovesJezebel thank you. I go gym but took a two week break due to exhaustion. Returned this weekend but still Finding it difficult.

Tried counselling in the past, it just isn't long term enough for me and very temporary. It makes me feel better the time I'm there but not afterwards really.

I honestly think my symptoms are partly thyroid related as it causes depression so I have had a test and awaiting results for that as maybe that is also part of it and I need to go back on medication for it. I currently take 50mcg sertraline I am TTC so reluctant to increase it

Just going to the gym is a positive !
Do you have any friends or a partner to talk to, and get out and about with ?

GeneLovesJezebel · 08/02/2022 09:33

I found out I was hypothyroid when TTC and it wasn’t happening.
Do take thyroid medication if needed, it won’t harm a baby.
