Starting to feel depressed at home

So, I'm 23, a FT student living at home with my mom still. My job finished beginning of jan (xmas temp) so I've been looking for work since then. My mom works FT and is out of the house more often than I am. I do majority of the cooking and I do my share of cleaning and other things, however, I'm starting to feel my depression creeping up since I'm home alone a lot and running out of things to do. I don't have many friends (friends are away from home for uni, have kids etc) so when I do go out, it's always by myself.

I really enjoy working as it gets me out of the house and gives me something else to focus on besides uni.

Any tips? I'm really trying not to fall into depression

Volunteering? Setting yourself a skill goal? One of my friends had surgery and was barely able to leave the house for several weeks so set herself one goal of making good headway with learning French and worked on it everyday, as if it were a job.

I'm so sorry to hear this op Flowers. There are lots of older teens and young adults in my family and things are utterly shit for them right now. I am sure other Mumsnetters will follow with better advice but maybe post here in the work and careers section about how to go about finding a job or a mentor in the area of employment that interests you? And have a look at "Therapy in a Nutshell" on You Tube. It has some very practical science based advice on how to combat depression. Hang in there and good luck to you Flowers
