Negative Mental Chatter/Low Self Esteem

I suffer at the hands of negative mental chatter, my own negative thoughts can be so distracting and self destructive. If you have any experience of this what are your tips and tricks for quietening the mind. Also, what are your favourite ‘self help’ books for helping to boost your self esteem and self confidence. Thanks.

CBT is the standard treatment for reframing thoughts. Your GP should be able to refer you, and in the meantime you can do some online courses.
