Coming off SSRIs

Wondering if anyone who has been through this can advise. I've been on escitalopram for just over 2 years and been trying to come off since November. I was on 10 mg. I've successfully got down to 1.25 mg so a quarter of a 5 mg tablet but I can't seem to stop completely because I feel dizzy when I'm due to take one and that continues until I do. It's not terrible dizziness but enough that you'd worry about driving. I won't describe the feeling, I'm sure it's familiar to those who have withdrawn from SSRIs. Pharmacist was no help and I doubt the GP would be seeing as he told me to just stop after 5mg. Any pearls of wisdom on this would be appreciated! TIA.

Sorry that should be 1.25 mg every other day...so it's a really tiny amount. Don't know what more I can do!

Honestly, I just did it. I don't think there's a way to avoid it completely. I lived with the dizziness for about 10 days and then it went. Obviously I didn't drive during that time!

10 days! Crikey. I'm a teacher so would have to wait for the next holiday...

I had the same, I think it's a pretty common side effect. You just have to wait it out I think, it will stop after 2 weeks or so.

Right...thanks I had a feeling people might say that. You'd think the GP would know this. I guess at least getting down to such a tiny dose means the dizziness won't be too bad. I had a friend who went cold turkey and was literally rebounding off the walls as she walked down a corridor...

To be fair, I went cold turkey from a max dose of sertraline so the 10 days could have been the reason! It wasn't too bad though, annoying but I still went to work / looked after my son / went away for the weekend.
