Private psychiatrist cost for teen

Can anyone advise on the cost of a private psychiatrist please? My teenager is struggling with what is probably depression and anxiety. Camhs were useless before and just said she was stressed but offered no counselling or anything and discharged her. It's beyond stress now and affecting all aspects of her life and I'd happily pay if it meant she could feel better. We have a Priory hospital fairly close by but I don't know if they see children or how to go about getting her referred privately. Any advice much appreciated.

Depends on where too. If outside London then around £90-£120 ph is possible to find.

I paid £375 for the initial consultation at the Priory then £200 a month. Worth it but I'm lucky to have extremely generous siblings. This was about five years ago.

our psychiatrist is £350 an hour and psychologist £150 for a 50 min appt.

Psychiatrist was originally for initial assessment, prescribing meds and allocating the right psychologist. Now have roughly 6 monthly reviews with him. Sometimes only get charged 15 mins for those.

Psychologist was seeing weekly for quite a while now monthly/as when needed.

Our private health insurance did pay the first £2000.

Seeing a psychiatrist for an assessment is I think best as then you can head down the best therapy route. Our gp was helpful in recommending a few people. They may also have an insight on how good your local priory is.

Wish you all the best as we’ve been where you 💐

Psychologists who see children are between £90-£100 a session where I am, which is a much cheaper option, unless you are looking for medication which can be prescribed only by a psychiatrist.

Or a counsellor who sees young people - which could be a cheaper option again for CBT or another type of therapy to support her

For an assessment it was £500 and thereafter £250 . She sees a psychologist for cbt now who costs £125 per session .
Cahms are the most useless dept I've ever come across ! We have had to pay for everything because apparently my child is ok because she is in a safe environment! 🙄🙄🙄

Priory charges £400 for assessment or 1 x hour sessions and £210 for half hour follow ups thereafter.
