PIP Assessment

I have a PIP assessment tomorrow and i am really panicking about how i can explain things - have a stutter, and diagnosis of DID and CPSTD with Dissociation. I also have epilepsy, severe asthma and multiple sclerosis.

My problem is say for instance my mental health problem means I cannot take trains - but I can sometimes take the buses - so a forty minute journey by train then becomes three hours and can be hugely stressful - should I mention the things like this?

Hi, I had my assessment just before Christmas - mine was on the phone - is yours? Do you have someone who can be with you for it? I had my care coordinator and husband with me and absolutely couldn’t have done it without them - they spoke for me when I couldn’t. I have CPTSD and DID too and to be honest I think I confused the assessor quite a lot, I don’t think she was familiar with dissociative disorders at all but then I guess it depends who you get. And yes the situation with buses is absolutely the sort of thing to explain, the ways in which your day to day life is impacted by your conditions. Good luck, I was so anxious about mine, it took 1.5 hours and was intense but manageable with help, really hope it goes as well as it can for you.
