Why are my wifes ASD traits seemingly getting worse

My wife is 40 and only diagnosed in her mid 30s with ASD.
They said it would have been considered Aspergers, and its clear this fit and we sort of just got on with life, understanding her personality a bit more. Generally I love that it's who she is as she's extra funny , doesn't overthink etc but she can be a bit shocking with some if the things that come out with zero filter!

But in the last 6-12 months her social skills -inappropriate oversharing, none funny repetative jokes, bluntness , overly rude jokes and not reading the room etc have got much more frequent and I feel likes it's worse..

does this happen? or do things get worse if she's struggling in other ways mentally or any idea why this would be happening? how do we help ?

we haven't really been given any advice and I'm trying to learn (with her) as we go. but its getting to the point where we are both anxious to go out with her and friends in case she says something inappropriate. and it makes me extra concerned for her career.
we have been together 10 years so it just seems odd that it's ramping up recently.

Menopause is kicking in.

My ADHD was only noticed when I was 49.

A typical aspect of autism is that their struggles are inconsistent and their general mental state will affect their behaviour as does everyone's.

Has she had any changes in her life? Any extra stressors?

Or she could just be unmasking. So even if she's being less "socially acceptable" it will be better for her as she is being herself.

she's only very recently really accepted her diagnosis and so yes it somewhat feels like she's just letting it all go now.
Good point about menopause though could get that checked

Mine seem to be intensifying but that's due to excess stress, hadn't thought of menopause
