Prozac and alcohol

I have been prescribed Prozac 20mg once a day and been doing OK with it, I think it is having a positive effect.
I am a very occasional drinker and by that I mean one glass of wine with Sunday dinner or one gin and tonic maybe on a Friday night, two at a push.
I can see that I should avoid alcohol though- does that mean absolutely no alcohol whatsoever? ?

No. A couple of drinks a week won’t be a problem, sounds like you’re fine there, so long as you haven’t noticed nasty side-effects on the days you’ve had a drink.

If you were a daily drinker it would be a problem - the meds would be unlikely to work, and the chances of developing a stomach ulcer or similar problem would shoot up with the combination. Or if you drank a lot at once, you’d be more likely to have dizziness or drowsiness with the combination.

Hope the improvement continues! Might be a good time to think about adding in some talking therapy, if you’re not already on a waiting list? You might be in a good place to make the most of it now you’re feeling a bit better.
