Mirtazapine, ran out, very panicky

Been on long term mirtazapine, 30mg per day. Found out today they sent my prescription to pharmacy I work near rather than my usual. I ordered something there once ,
non related. I can't get there today. It's 32 miles away and I have DD to look after.
I've 3 tablets left so will run out over the weekend.
Feel so panicky at this thought. manic almost, I'm shouting at DD, jittery and can't relax. Partner very unsympathetic.
What can I do if I run out? How can I relax?
It doesn't work for me aswell as it used to and with one thing and another I've slept 4-5 hours per night the last couple of nights.
Don't know what I'm asking, just wanted to vent.

Could you split the tablets in half and take 15mg to make them last longer until you can get to the pharmacy? DH has these and was told the lower the dose, the higher the sedative effect so 15mg may make you more sleepy.

@Bim2021 Thank you for your reply. I did consider this and it's probably my best option.

Call the drs and ask them to resend the prescription to the right pharmacy. Or get an emergency 2 day supply? I think the pharmacist can do one if you explain.

Can your partner go and pick them up? Or look after DD while you go?

If you go on NHS website do the online 111 questionnaire theres an option that says ran out of medication. My DH did this and got an emergency supply of sertraline from the Asda pharmacy same day

Pharmacies will give you an emergency supply of your meds with out a prescription - go to your usual pharmacy and they will sort you out

Mads123 · 17/12/2021 12:04

Ring that pharmacy they can release the prescription back to the spine and then a local pharmacy can download it for you.

thesootherfairy · 17/12/2021 12:13

Don't panic or go without. Two options. First ring 111 and press the option for emergency repeat prescription.
Or ring pharmacy like someone else suggested.
Third option. Ring medical secretaries at your GP surgery to get a new paper copy prescription. Collect this afternoon and take to pharmacy close to you.
You shouldn't need to run out. It's dangerous to rapidly cut down on ADs. Can make you really unwell.
It's doable to sort it.

I managed to get a few days of my meds last year New Year's Eve 10pm. I went through 111 and Tesco pharmacy. They were great.

Madbadandusuallysad · 17/12/2021 19:45

Agree with Mads123 above. Phone the pharmacy that has your prescription and ask them to return it digitally(assuming it is an electronic prescription) and it can be downloaded at your regular pharmacy so you go into your regular place and give them your name and date of birth they will print it off and get it ready.

Go through 111

DontKeepTheFaith · 17/12/2021 20:16

Sorry, I might be having a thick moment but if you have 3 left, should you not be alright until Monday? When hopefully you can sort something out. I’m just thinking, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. I’m assuming you have 30mg tablets.

I would contact 111 if you do struggle though, ideally tomorrow so you can collect from somewhere.

Thanks everyone for replies. I appreciate it.

@DontKeepTheFaith I didn't explain properly but I have 2 tablets at 30mg and 1 at 15mg (from back when I first started taking it).
I'm still a bit panicky about that so I'll have to try get an emergency prescription tomorrow. Today has been a bit crazy.
Thank you again x
