Trigger warning - self harm

Hi there,

I have some self harm marks on my thigh that are going to be seen tomorrow due to the nature of a beauty appt I'm going to. I don't want to cancel it. I completely didn't even think about this until just now.

What excuse can I give? I know she won't mention it but I'll feel awkward unless I address it. There are about 8-10 lines, all roughly in the same direction, same distance apart etc :(

Please help?? Xx

Hi, I don't think you need to make an excuse. If it's obvious what they're from there's probably no point thinking of something which isn't likely believable anyway. It's probably something the person doing the appointment has seen before and unless it affects the treatment it makes no difference. I don't think anyone will comment but if they did you could just say it's a personal matter.
If you do feel better addressing it outright will they ask if there's anything you're allergic to or any areas you want to avoid? I've said something along the lines of "yes, I have a lot of scars here and it shouldn't affect anything but I understand if you'd rather avoid the area". Would that work for you?
Hope you enjoy tomorrow - definitely no need to cancel if you're looking forward to it! X
