What would GP do?

Been taking a combination of Neurofen Plus, Panamol (both containing codeine) and meds with diphenhydramine hydrochloride to help me cope with life.
Taking these makes me feel like I’ve been drinking, woozy and a bit of an I don’t care happy feeling.
If I went to the GP for help as I’m needing to feel like this on a daily basis to feel ok, what would they do?

They would discuss why to you are taking them, what you are taking, and then plan a structured plan. If they feel you need antidepressants, they may prescribe them. They may also suggest organisations that can help with your well-being and counselling.

Please seek help.

I am already on antidepressants but still needing to take everything else to make me feel like I can cope. I think I’m more worried about the amount of paracetamol and ibuprofen that I’m taking from these tablets.

I hope that they would address your dependence on these extra medicines. No judgement here but to me it sounds like you are addicted. Rather than vaguely wondering what the GP would do, could you reach out and address this tomorrow morning by ringing your surgery? Do you have kids?

They might suggest you contact an addiction charity for counselling, they will tell you to stop using them, but they'll do very little. There is very little support for painkiller addiction.

What help would you like? It might be helpful to put forward some suggestions for what might help.
