Panic attacks are worse than usual 4 days in. Is this just temporary until I get used to these meds? Lowest dose

I have never taken it myself. But my old DS who has depression anxiety, was put onto it in September, recently stopped taking it,he also said it was making him worse. He's a bloke in his 40s doesn't confide much in me. It was just he was invited to his DSs birthday lunch I asked how he was

It can be worse before it gets better. Although my Dr also prescribed me standard release beta blockers to deal with my panic attacks along with 40mg citalopram a day. Is that an option for you?

It can be, symptoms often get worse at first. I’ve taken citalopram for 4 years and they worked beautifully after the initial side effects, unfortunately they suddenly started causing severe panic attacks day and night so I’m currently weaning off them.

Before citalopram I tried sertraline, the initial panic attacks were off the scale and I was taken off them after a week. It’s all a learning curve really, give it time but only you know best.

I am 3 weeks in. I had lots of panic attacks over the first week, but I haven’t had one since and I’m now starting to feel much better overall. I know it’s horrible but if you push through it will all get better soon!
