Can't speak to the GP

Every time I call up I get given a nurse practitioner who dismisses my symptoms, even though I have 3x diagnosis and have had 3x mental health crisis including 2x voluntary inpatient they won't let me speak to the GP. I want medication, was told I don't need it I just need to get be a better parent, basically. Wouldn't let me mention why I came off my last antidepressant a few months ago, or what other help their might be. I'm happy to be referred back to mental health team, but I really don't want to end up in crisis or A&E I want to do it the right way. Why is it so hard?

That is appalling!
I phoned the GP yesterday to go on the triage list, I said it’s due to a MH issue. Usually on the triage list the nurse phones you to discuss but, as it was MH, the Dr phoned me herself.

Could you phone reception and ask them to put you on the duty Drs call list as an urgent MH issue?

Is there an email address for the practice manager? Our surgery now has an email address you can contact listed on their website. Maybe remind them you have had crisis and been inpatient in the past and that, without speaking to the Dr, if you ended up in crisis again they would be looking at it being recorded as a ‘significant event’.

Or could you do an consult? That way it is recorded in your notes that you are trying to get help and being ignored.
Or drop a letter, hand delivered, addressed to a sympathetic Dr maybe?
So sorry. I hope you can speak to someone soon. Flowers

I called back and they have booked me in for a face to face appointment. Just wish I could get healthcare without having to fight so hard for it

I’m glad they booked you an appointment.
It really shouldn’t be this hard should it?
I hope things feel better for you soon Flowers
