Reducing Sertraline

Hi
My sertraline dose increased from 100mg to 150mg a year and a half ago but it turns out what I actually needed HRT.

I want to reduce back down to 100mg and know I have to do it gradually. Anyone else done this and how over what time?

Thanks

Yes I have but I did it slowly over a period of a about 10 months as I didn't want to fall back into a low. mood. My advice would be to Start off by taking 100 mg one day a week and see how you feel then increase it to two days a week and so on.

You should probably discuss a strategy with your GP.

I came off it completely, but to give you an idea I tapered off slowly. I had been on 50mg for about two years. Was prescribed 25mg for a month. Then (still on 25mg) I did two days on, one day off for a week. Then two days on, two days off for another week. Then two days on, three days off. And so on. When I got to two days on, six days off I stopped taking it altogether.

In total it took about a month, maybe five weeks, to come off it completely, but it was relatively side-effect free.

But my GP and I agreed this strategy, we discussed it in advance.
