Me, my dh and 3 kids are all really ill with some horrible virus (thankfully not covid) and my youngest now has tonsillitis which means there has been zero sleep for me.

The house is in absolute state, no exaggeration. There's no clean plates etc, every room needs a really good scrub but I'm so exhausted, I can't even bring myself to scrape leftover food of the plates.

Then I'm worrying about money and bills, just standard adult things really. This virus has really taken its toll on me, it's been about a week now and I'm still so exhausted.

I need to do laundry, I need a bath, the kids need a bath and I'm just so fucking tired. Partner is doing loads in comparison to me but he's unwell and can't clean on his own.

I don't know, times like these I just wish I didn't have to wake up and see anyone.

Do 10 minutes in each room and go to bed. You can't deal with all of this with no sleep, you need your strength. Do the bare minimum to keep it tidy and tell your partner to feed the children easy food this afternoon and watch a couple of films or something easy. You can't pour from an empty jug. Take good care, autumn and winter are awful times to feel low. Look after yourself as well in as everyone else.

Also, use wipes on yourself and a face cloth or sponge to keep clean. Change your underwear, get into clean pyjamas or comfortable, casual clothes that you can sleep in. Batten down the hatches and take as much care of you as everyone else, you deserve it.

Thank you, I managed to have a bath.

My head is killing me, nothing will rid the headache. Kids have been so naughty because they're tired, bored and ill. I'm so tired. We've been eating crap toasts and noodles mainly and take aways even though we can't afford it.

Hate feeling so incompetent as a person

Well done for feeding your children and parenting them despite clearly feeling terrible. You even managed to get a bath! Along with being good for you, it's an excellent example to your children.

You aren't incompetent either, you're just in a lower mood because you're ill. Try drinking some water for your headache, or even some painkillers. Have you got a Sainsbury's near you or a late night chemist? Some codeine might take the edge off and let you get some sleep. Hope you're feeling brighter tomorrow 😊
