ADHD & DEPRESSION. Does anyone take Elvanse and Sertraline together

I am worried about the side effects of taking both. I am taking Elvanse for adult ADHD and have got used to them. They help, to keep me focused on my work and things I have to do. More controlled eating habits too. GP has prescribed me Sertraline to help with motivation as I still can't get a lot of other things done, I have taken Sertraline before and it was ok, and manageable after a while. But im worried about the side effects as I know Sertraline takes time to adjust. I wish I could go somewhere for a month work out meds abs what works and then come back home. This isn't possible as I am a single parent with no family around.

I don't but my dd does take this combination and is completely fine on it. A few side effects to start with but has all evened out now.

There's an adult adhd group on FB where the admin is really good on meds & issues with mixing them. I think it's literally Adult ADHD...

Worth having a post there.

Would it be an idea to consider changing the adhd meds if motivation is the issue? I can't see how anti depressants help motivation unless you are depressed. ( adhd and depression diagnosis here so some experience)

DD was on setraline for depression years ago, but it didn’t work for her as her problem wasn’t that her seratonin levels were too low.

Since being diagnosed with ADHD as an adult she’s found that noradrenaline-based anti-depressants work better for her, and with well with Elvanse for the ADHD.

I think the AD she’s on is called Buproprion.

Thank you all for getting back. I will try again I think- I took the two on one day and felt awful so stopped the S*. Gp and Psych said they were ok together. I think I just have to prepare myself to get through the first 2 weeks. But I will
Look at FB page to

Hi Wombat49,

Would you clarify the name of that facebook group for us - could be really useful for some of our users.

Thanks a lot

I can 100% relate.
How are you getting on now? I came off sertraline for elvanse a month ago and omg I would NOT do it again. I am now being told to go back on sertraline with the elvanse taking them 1 hour apart which I am terrified to do because withdrawal effects I got.

Can I ask how you are getting on now?
