Antidepressants and night sweats

Hello, I get nightsweats which I have always assumed is from my antidepressants, however they're not every night - sometimes I can go a few weeks and then just have a one bad night sweat, only to be fine the next night. My doctor says it's still my antidepressants but I'd have thought that if it was the antidepressants causing it, it would be more of an every night thing, considering I take them every day. Just wondered if anyone else had experienced intermittent nightsweats through their meds? Or should I be looking at another cause of the sweats? Thanks a lot xxx

I’m sorry I can’t help much but I tend to get them if I forget a dose. Then I have to peel myself off my bedsheet in the morning 😕

Oh 100%! I got them terribly on fluoxetine - I could literally feel the sweat rolling off me - and like you, it was sporadic. It was quite annoying/weird but not bad enough for me to come off the medication.

Not sure in your age but could they be hormone Related sweats? Rather than medical related, just struck me if they are monthly? Maybe worth tracking.

Thanks for replies ladies. I'm 39 but I don't think it's hormone related as it's been going on for a long time. Just want to be sure it's the antidepressants as it's so sporadic. If it is then I think I can live with it, just want to be sure. Xx

Urgh yes, when you feel it rolling down your legs in the night - horrible!!

Can totally relate. Came off fluoxetine for this very reason - now on citalopram, they still happen but not every night like they used to.

I've come off antidepressants before because of regular night sweats. These intermittent ones I can handle a little better xx
