Feel really overwhelmed and don't know what to do

I'm on 15mg of olanzapine and feel really overwhelmed with life right now. I feel like I can't cope and I don't know what to do. My Dr doesn't know much about the medication, I'm on it because of a psychotic episode a month or so ago.

I don't feel like I can cope and everything feels too much. I have no help or support as I have no family or friends. What should I do?

I'm sorry things are so difficult. I understand the feeling of being overwhelmed. I think you need to go back to your doctor. Has he not referred you to a psychiatrist - I would have expected that with psychosis. Unfortunately you'll probably have to be really pushy - that's the only way I have got anywhere with the NHS.

Thanks for responding. My Dr didn't prescribe the medication, it was the hospital but they have now discharged me. I spoke to a psychiatrist in the hospital when I was there was an informal patient. I haven't spoken to one since. When I up the medication, I can't think properly.

Please see or call the doctor and tell him how you're feeling. Ask him to refer you to someone who can help. Did you go to hospital because of the psychotic episode?

Hi thank you. I was an inpatient because of a psychotic episode. I called my local mental health crisis line and they have referred me to the CHT or community health team. They won't contact me for a few weeks though. They said to go to A&E if I feel worse today and speak to them.

I'm really sorry they weren't more helpful. I wish we had more options than A&E! How are you doing now?

Not great. Trying to stay afloat and not get too overwhelmed. I'm trying to keep my mind busy as I keep having intrusive thoughts. I don't think my medication is working for me but I need to wait for the CHT to evaluate the medication which may not be for a few weeks. If I follow this trajectory, I'm going to A&E. I'm not sure what other options I have.

I often struggle with intrusive thoughts too. It's horrible, isn't it. There are a couple of places you can chat online with trained volunteers if you think that might help? There's My Black Dog and The Calm Zone - they've been helpful to me when I'm struggling.

Thank you I will look at both of those as I really need someone to talk to.

I really hope you feel better soon.

So sorry to hear you are dealing with this.

Plenty of people on here care about you.
I would second what was said before, be pushy for help from the nhs.
If you have to go to a&e so be it. Not nice but you will get expert help hopefully.

As for intrusive thoughts sorry if this is really naff, but my counsellor gave me a made up word. You are supposed to repeat it in your mind and apparently your brain can't process other thoughts whilst it tries to process the nonsense word.

The other thing I find helpful is just lying down and tapping me chest gently. Don't know why but it also seems to do the same
