Sertraline - Tingling and numbness

I have started sertraline a few days ago and for the last couple nights I’ve been trying to go to sleep and had tingling in different part of my body and also woke up with a few numb fingers. Could this be a side effect of sertraline? I suffer with very bad health anxiety and my current fear is MND or something else neurological.

Is this something you’ve had before sertraline or has it only just started?

Which fingers are numb? That could be to do with something like carpal tunnel? I definitely go through phases where I wake up with numb fingers. I haven’t had tingling with sertraline, but I’ve had it in the past when I’ve been very anxious.

Could you assume that it’s the tablets and then if it hasn’t gone in a couple of weeks have a chat to your GP at your first check up?

I massively sympathise with the health anxiety, that’s why I’m on sertraline, so I completely understand. The first few days I felt absolutely bizarre on sertraline. The first few nights were awful, I felt like I could hardly stay still. It was like restless legs but across my whole body. It did go off after a few days though.

Yes I had pins and needles during the night for the first couple of weeks or so after starting sertraline - it did settle down.

Thank you both for your comments. I’m glad it’s not just me @Amigobay I did speak to the gp as I was worried and she said it’s likely a mix of side effects and anxiety. I hope you’re doing okay with your HA @naturemumma it really is awful isn’t it. X
