a year long wait - don't you have community mental health teams? i was referred at the end of december, had my assessment mid january and have been having fortnightly meetings with a cbt person and cpn ever since - i thought everyone had this - i feel very lucky now

A year from assessment!!!! - i would have forgotten what i'd said by a month later let alone a year - that's awful! I'd sign a petition for eveyone to have access to what they need - I really didn't realise how lucky i was. I've been on a pnd course/group and a follow up session for 6 weeks too. All the referals were organised by my gp and it all happened in a matter of weeks

well if we can borrow some of your dentists and we can lend you some of our mental type people - takes months for an nhs dentist to have an opening to register let alone a dentist with an available appointment in the forseable future

Hi Zoe,

I would definitely sign. Were you planning to set it up on the Downing St website? The only thing I wonder is whether it would be an idea to team up with one of the big charities involved in this area - MIND or PNI - so that it's taken more seriously. They would be able to give advice on the wording, etc. Otherwise it might be too easy to dismiss by simply saying 'not enough money' etc.

Probably being rather cynical.

no not cynical at all yeah i spoke to my dad and he told me about the government website i am in process of looking into it if anyone wants to help let me know xxx

Hi Zoe,

I would definitely sign and I really admire you for taking this on. I have been receiving treatment for the past eight years so can not remember how long I had to wait - sometimes I can not remember eight days ago! In my area it seems like we have quite a few CPN's and Psychiatrists but its Psychologists that seem to be very scarce not sure if this is the same countrywide, just spoke to a friend who waited 3 years to see a psychologist for CBT she was already seeing a psychiatrist so wasn't left to cope alone for all this time.

Good luck and best wishes.
