Finally seeking counselling

Forgive me if this is jumbled, I have issues articulating myself sometimes.
I have recently self referred for counselling and had an initial call yesterday to see what type of therapy might best suit my needs.
The counsellor suggested I am severely depressed with a bit of anxiety, and have insecure attachment due to verbal abuse/neglect in childhood. Having googled this since the call its like reading a story about my life and I am overwhelmed with how I am going to fix myself in order to have a life with healthy relationships.
I seem to fit mostly with the Disorganised Attachment type and I just don't know how I am going to get through this and rebuild myself.
Does anybody have any books or resources they could recommend to help me understand this better?
The counsellor has a meeting with 3 other therapists next week to discuss which approach would be best for me but I'd like to start educating myself as much as possible.
Thank you

Did they recommend antidepressants for your anxiety and depression, or a chat with your GP about it ?

@GoodnightGrandma they are having a meeting on Tuesday to discuss. This is the local health team so I have bypassed the GP by self referring

Well done for organising this for yourself. Was it a short initial call or a full assessment? If the former, I can understand wanting to understand more and he prepared but you might be better waiting until you can meet your therapist sand have your full assessment. They will help you figure out how to make things better one step at a time. Part of the skill of a therapist is figuring this out, Otherwise you might end up barking up the wrong tree or worrying yourself unnecessarily. If it turns out there is a wait for an assessment you could ask them when they tell you that what you could do in the meantime.
Good luck xx

Thank you @daisylashes
The call was around an hour long with a counsellor, and she went through a questionnaire that was posted to me a few weeks ago. Then we had a chat about how I'm feeling/ how long for/ my childhood and relationships. It was a very thorough phonecall to be fair, I was pleasantly surprised.
