Hi

Just wondering if anyone has had this.. I am very stressed at the moment have probably had what some would say a nervous breakdown in the last month I seem to be getting a bit better now but now 100 percent.

I also have health anxiety which is why this is probably worrying me.. sometimes when I close my eyes to fall asleep I will hear something either a loud bang, a car horn, a random word or like a whistle or something in my head. If I’m really tired I’ll just go to sleep and it goes but it happens more in the morning when I wake up really early which I am atm due to anxiety I’m tossing And turning trying to get back to sleep and that’s when I hear it a lot it’s mainly random noises once it was a massive bang that actually woke me up.

Weird thing is sometimes I am awake as I can hear things around me but I am trying to get back to sleep and I guess am kinda half asleep as my eyes are shut.

This is scaring me now due to my health anxiety and I’m worried I’m going to start hearing these noises when I’m fully awake

Anyone ??

Super common, they're called Hypnogogic or Hypnopompic hallucinations, they happen in the transition to or from sleep. Not a sign of anything sinister.

@NutellaEllaElla I read about them
And assumed it was that but was just a bit concerned cos I seem to aware of
My surroundings when I hear them like I’m awake but not properly awake but can still hear what’s going on in the room kinda thing

I second NutellaEllaElla.
Sounds like Hypnogogic or Hypnopompic hallucinations and they are normal and common. They might pop up more when you are stressed (mine do). They might also be Exploding Head Syndrome... which is not as dramatic as it sounds! Again, nothing to be worried about.

A sudden loud bang, or someone calling my name. Sometimes a random word.
