Been prescribed 25mg of sertraline. The side effects the doctor described - and the ones I’ve read online - are scaring me. Any experiences?

Just that really!

I am quite scared of taking ADs. And the side effects of tummy troubles, increased anxiety, inability to orgasm, etc are making me scared to take them!

I tend to react quite strongly to pills of any sort, so how I’ve got anxiety about my pills for anxiety Grin

Any experiences?

I am currently on 100mg of sertraline and have no noticeable side effects. I was previously on 200mg and did have side effects then - main ones being "brain shocks" and dizziness.

The drug has helped my depression immensely though.

There’s a brilliant thread called sertraline handhold or something like that. I take 50mg. The first few days I was an absolute state and then everything settled and my god they help. Don’t take them on an empty stomach. Good luck.

At my worst I was taking 200mg daily. It certainly helped my depression (currently not needing any meds). As a previous poster mentioned, I too got "brain shocks" but I would rather that then ever face depression again, in fact, I'd forgotten all about them until they were mentioned now. Yes, I found my libido effected too but depression also causes this so really are you any worse off for taking it? I certainly wouldn't hesitate to take it again if I needed to - it helped save my life.
