Not sure I'm posting in the right place but my dc has just been diagnosed with Attention deficit disorder (dc is 15). Early days as diagnosis has just been made (psychiatrist still to confirm but suspects this is a contributing factor in dcs issues).

Anyone taken Attend (herbal supplement)? If so, did it make any difference. Wondering how best to support dc. Any advice welcome.

We tried a few....my DD is 13 now. She doesn't want to take medication. The most effective thing in my opinion is a really good diet with no additives and little sugar. When she eats crap, her symptoms get much worse.

I know a lot of people think that's a slightly hippy/airy fairy way to approach things but if you read up on the latest research on the "gut brain connection: then you'll see that scientists these days accept that the gut has a huge effect on the brain.

As a family, we now avoid all additives....we read every label. Most of our food is fully natural apart from the occasional slip up. It's improved all of our mental health.

Thank you FortunesFave. Does your daughter experience ADHD or ADD because I think these are different? I understand from my very limited reading that ADHD is more impacted by diet. Psychiatrist has suggested ADD as opposed to ADHD in my dc's case.
