DM has a history of suffering from anxiety and depression. She is now 73. She lives with my dad but he is a proper bully but that’s another story. She also does a lot for her 98 year old mother. All this and the last year has caused her on a downward spiral. Last week I called her GP as she is struggling to sleep or eat. He called her and asked her to attend an appointment. She was very anxious about going but I persuaded her telling her that they would prescribe something to help her. She had a 20 minute appointment and she was very honest. He wants to see her on 2 weeks but has suggested she tries yoga and waking and no meds. She does walk with me most days anyway but I can see that this is not helping. I feel helpless. She is becoming very agitated and I am having to coax her to eat small amounts. Surely the GP should be doing more?

You can contact the GP yourself and explain her situation more fully. This is done on the understanding that the GP obviously can’t comment due to confidentiality.
