Urgent cmht referral

Hey.

Diagnosed cyclothymia / changed to bp2, unmedicated for a decent chunk of time & have been relatively stable since. I reckon it slipped through the net when getting prescribed antidepressants.

Had sertraline prescribed 13/7 which did a number on me within a few hours, figured it was bog standard side effects but was worsening so had them stopped on the 19th. Ended up at 111 on the 22nd because it wasn’t dying down & im starting to get agitated, told to speak to gp within 24hrs. Spoke to gp yesterday who’s put an urgent referral/recommendations for treatment into cmht. Started on zopiclone last night & partner reckons I’m still well above baseline, just doped up.

Anyone have any ideas how long it’ll be? I was under camhs then passed onto cmht. Haven’t been under cmht from the gp previously. Currently off sick with a raging ED but hoping to go back to work once my current sicknote expires.

My urgent referral took 2 weeks just to be assessed then 3 months after that before they even contacted me to say I needed to see a psychologist. It depends on where you live but I'd prepare for a bit of a wait.

There’s three types of referral to CMHT. “Urgent” which is same day, “Soon” which is within 10 working days (2 weeks) and “Routine” which is within 8 weeks. Usually an “urgent referral” will be for people who are at acute risk of suicide or floridly psychotic, so I suspect yours is a “soon” referral, but it’s hard to tell how ill you are. When you say ED do you mean eating disorder? What treatment are you getting for that? When were you last discharged from CMHT? Most CMHTs have a rapid return system for people discharged in the last 2 years. I’m a student MH nurse.
