Panic attacks, already on SSRI tabs for anxiety, what should I do?

I keep having repeated panic attacks. Full body, stomach churning, heart racing, sweating, screaming/crying, shaking panic attacks. I can never really identify a specific trigger bit I can work it back afterwards and decide why it happened, sometimes it’s over something like COVID or something uncontrollable and long term that I can’t avoid. I take Venlafaxine 75mg daily for low mood and generalised anxiety and 10mg amytriptaline for pain. Panic attacks aren’t new to me but over the last few weeks they’ve become daily and multiple. Can anyone advise on what I should actually do now? Thanks

Surely your first port of call is your gp? Or if you can't wait until tomorrow, 111 for advice? Or the community mental health team?

I don't mean this rudely, but you need specialist advice from medical professionals in your condition and preferably from someone who is familiar with your history. Acting on any other advice could be dangerous for you.

Yes that was the question, do I go to the GP or should I be taking steps myself first

I agree with the above poster. You should contact whoever is looking after your medication and mental health. Tell them about the panic attacks. It may be time for a medication review. Have you ever had any talking therapy?

Are any of those proprananol? I think to be honest you need to speak to your GP firstly and maybe some CBT for coping mechanisms. Sorry you're dealing with this.

I'd imagine you're doing as much self-help as you can already, so it's definitely time to seek medical help.

Definitely go back to your gp.
As a sufferer of panic attacks, I would say that for me propranolol has been the biggest help. I also have found mirtazipine really helpful too. However everyone is different and only your gp can work with you on this one to find out what will work for you.
Finding a good therapist to help with the root cause of your issues may also be a good idea

Thank you! I’ve got a therapist she’s lovely. I can’t have propranolol because I’m severely allergic as I found out the hard way! I think it’s worth going back to GP and asking. Feel embarrassed because I speak to the doctor every other week with being a disabled person, they must be absolutely fed up of my name!

Good luck OP

Thank you! I feel embarrassed. I don’t know how to put it. You have to do an econsult to get a phone call from them.
