Antidepressants + situational anxiety.

Hi.

Does anyone know if antidepressants can help with situational anxiety? I have pretty low lying anxiety in general, but it’s horrendous surrounding eating (I’m in the midst of an ED relapse).

My gp offered me antidepressants but declined them, now I’m wondering if they’d be beneficial for the awful anxiety I get surrounding eating. I’m currently off work sick but due back in the near future.

I’m commenting because I’m in a similar way although a different issue causing the high level anxiety. So I’m afraid I can’t help but would love to know if anti depressants would help. Hope someone offers advice for you soon

I would suggest maybe a psychiatrist rather than GP. When I was in a similar position, I was prescribed a short course of diazepam to deal with the anxiety around eating (I was already on sertraline)
