Started taking lithium a few days ago I’ve taken it before 5 years ago for a couple of weeks but my mood crashed quite badly so it was stopped I also take qatiapine I’ve had some liver and kidney problems in the last 5 years and I wonder if my body’s not quite as good with it now the first day I took 200 and was ok the next day I accidentally took 400 not realising the 2 Identical packet where different and they where meant to be started in 2 weeks I vomited and had some diarrhoea but and I’ve taken two more days of 200 yesterday I had 2 small alcoholic drinks and I’ve been sick a lot today I realise I probably shouldn’t have had them 2 drinks but I’m quite a seasoned drinker and that reaction is not normal. I don’t remember any side effects last time. Also I realise the nhs website says call for help if you vomit but the pages and pages of stuff I got with the lithium says you can occasionally vomit any thoughts?

Hi Hm if you don't have a CPN or they have gone home I suggest you ask your Pharmacist if it is still open or ring your GP and get the number for the out of hours cover and ring them. Any professional here who has experience of these medications will be reluctant to advise as they may not feel they have the full story from a MN post. There may be other people who take these tablets who have views but you really should get proper information on your exact situation. I really hope you get some advice about what to do, if anything, and in due course you get some relief from the medication. Take care, you are precious.

My mum was on lithium for fifty years, so I was brought up to think it's not something you mess about with. Contact a pharmacist, please. Or 111. Just get some proper advice.
