Really worried Health anxiety

Hi
I suffer from bad health anxiety and general anxiety.
For a year now I’ve suffered with horrible symptoms including pain in different parts of my head that come and go, sometimes dull and aching, sometimes sharp stabbing pains. Feeling queasy and sick, brain fog, difficulty concentrating, twitchy and jerky muscles, feeling of cotton wool in my head, just generally not feeling right. I’ve had two MRI scans which were both normal and was under a consultant in neurology who discharged me back to the GP because he said there was no findings and my neurological examination in clinic was normal.

These symptoms have been present for a year now. They don’t stop me living day to day life most of the time, sometimes the symptoms are worse than other days but they’re mainly always there and I never feel quite right. It’s been put down to anxiety and stress.

I’m convinced there’s something wrong but scans were normal, I keep thinking what if something was missed. I don’t see how all this could be just anxiety

Anxiety can produce the most horrendous physical symptoms so don’t underestimate that. The fact that you’ve had 2 normal scans is really positive. I think you need to address your anxiety ideally with therapy.
I suffer with health anxiety and have spent so much time googling symptoms double checking with doctors etc, but therapy for my anxiety was what I really needed.
Focus on this and it’s likely your physical symptoms will ease- not easy I know.

I agree. These are all physical symptoms of your anxiety. I have anxiety and have experienced many of these.

About 10 years ago I had similar. Allllll sorts of very similar symptoms to you, felt like my head was in a vice, plus various other issues.
As soon as I started on ADs, pretty much all of it went away. Remaining symptoms were due to a severe vit D deficiency.
Hoping that you find some calm. Health anxiety is horrendous x

Thank you for your replies.
It’s so exhausting, to have dealt with this for nearly a whole year. I’m so tired all the time yet can never get any decent sleep. I’m over thinking all the time and then start the scary thoughts and what ifs. Then I start to google and then feel even more scared.
I try and remind myself that the checks I’ve had are reassuring but can’t shake the feeling something has been missed. It’s awful.

I used to be exactly the same, but I don't feel like that anymore so you can definitely get over this. My symptoms were very "real" - they were not in my head, but they were caused by what was going on in my head. (If that makes sense?) It's so difficult as it's such a vicious cycle but if you can try to allow yourself to trust the medical tests then maybe you can take small steps to feeling better Thanks
