Changing Antidepressants

Been taking 75mg Venaflaxine for 4 months and not feeling great on it - lots of nausea and shakes.
Was thinking of changing to Escitalopram as read good reports on it.
Anyone done the same and what has your experience been - really worried about withdrawal effects. Getting pretty desperate to find something that works for me.

I haven't taken Venaflaxine but have taken Escitalopram and lots of other SSRIs. I had a problem with bad shaking as well - in fact the shaking was making the depression worse! After a consultation with a psycho-pharmacologist I was advised not to take any SSRIs/SNRIs. I'm now on Valdoxan which I don't have any side effects from as far as I know. (I'm on a lot of other meds so it's possible interactions played a part in my situation.)

I wouldn't think you'd get a lot of withdrawal symptoms switching from Venaflaxine to Escitaprolam because they act in similar ways. Early on I switched between a few SSRIs with no problems. I came off Prozac very slowly and didn't have any withdrawal. I took Cymbalta for 6 weeks and stopped cold turkey because I couldn't bear the side effects (shaking, vertigo and flu-like symptoms). I didn't have any withdrawal as far as I'm aware although it took 2-3 months to get out of my system and for the shaking to stop.

If your meds are being prescribed by your GP I'd really try to get a psych consultation because they obviously know more about the meds. Good luck.
