Kids' DF diagnosed with bipolar 1

We're not together anymore and no contact but I've learned the father of my 2 dc has been diagnosed with bipolar 1.

I'm so concerned about what this means for them. I've read 15% chance of passing it on. I don't know what to do from here.

There is nothing you need to do. Just carry on as normal. How old are they? If they do develop bipolar, symptoms will most likely start in late teens/early 20s.

I agree with Xeno. Try and read up on Bipolar 1 and understand this disorder beyond the label and fear. Once diagnosed it is often well managed with medication and appropriate therapy. This later life diagnosis is probably a lot for your ex to come to terms with ....he might be struggling with fear of stigma/negative reaction but also it could be a huge cloud lifted off him and it will explain a lot of the symptoms and difficulties he’s experienced in the past....he can be kinder on himself. I know someone with BP1...very successful, a bank manager with a lovely wife and kids a great family guy. His condition is well managed and his wife is fabulous in supporting him. Mental illness is very common. Best thing you can do for your own kids is not stress about genetic probabilities but support your ex in his efforts to be functional and manage his disorder well.
