Mental health hospital admission related

My records say I was admitted to my local mental health acute ward as there were no beds in private ward about half an hour away. Surely the plan was just to admit me to the local acute why would they plan to send someone to a private ward although obviously with an nhs contract.

The private unit may have been more appropriate for your condition. When someone is admitted, the clinician will go through a process to identify what help you need and how that can best be provided. If they can't provide the most appropriate care, then they need to document why that is not the case. Depriving someone of their liberty (assuming it was not a voluntary admission) has to be carefully justified.

If you need information about your admission, ask your CPN or psychiatrist, or contact PALS if you are no longer under the mental health team.

Thank you the private unit is smaller so I don’t know if that was one of the reasons
