Avoiding bed because of insomnia...

I have a slow running thread about work investigations, I've never slept well but now I cannot sleep. I just vegetate in bed for 4 hours or so. It's grim.

I have been on escitalopram for one week. I did have a week of sleeping tablets prior to that and whilst it was nice
To sleep through the night I was so utterly wiped out it wasn't sustainable.

Now I'm so tired my eyes are gritty but I just don't want to go to bed because I know I won't sleep.

I have:
Journal to note my thoughts
Sleep app
Melatonin
ZMA

I'm just exhausted. Thank you for reading if you got this far.

There are all kinds of articles, and even entire books, about dealing with insomnia through various non-drug ways - such as adjusting your diet, avoiding the internet at night, etc. Have you done any research and tried some of those methods?

After many many years of insomnia I’ve found magnesium spray to be amazing - it was recommended by a lady in a natural remedy shop who also said that apparently most women are deficient. My expectations were low but it’s genuinely really helped.

If you’re looking for things to try right now (in no particular order) I’d suggest: cup of sweet tea, hot milk with brandy, no phones in bedroom (this was also a game changer for me), a hot bath, have an orgasm, wear an eye mask. Flowers
