Can't sleep sertraline

Me again!

I asked last week about when is best to take sertraline as I had read that it can cause insomnia.

I am taking it at 6:30 when I wake up and I am still having to take Nytol to help me drift off and even then I am taking a lot longer than usual to get to sleep.

I have been taking it less than a week so should I wait longer to see if this wares off? I really want this tablet to work for me so am fine to stay on it if this issue resolves itself but I am fully aware that I cannot be taking Nytol every single night.

Did anyone experience this when first taking sertraline and did it get easier to sleep eventually?

Thanks!

DH has been taken sertraline for over 10 years and always as he goes to bed, he never has problems going to sleep

Side effects can take up to 6weeks to wear off.

I find melatonin much better than Nytol and the like.

DS takes sertraline, 50mg
The first few months he had trouble sleeping. He still has occasional bad nights.
He takes his tablet first thing in the morning

I took a sleep aid prescribed over the counter by my pharmacist. Go to your pharmacy and ask what you can take. I only needed it for 10 nights then found I was fine. Not sertraline though but lots of ADs affect sleep at first.

I've had problems sleeping so I now take it just as I'm getting into bed sleeping better for now

I couldn’t sleep either so started taking it when I get into bed, rarely have problems getting to sleep now xx

I took it before bed and it worked. Taking it first thing in the morning made me tired all day but wired at night.
