Been referred to CRISIS? What to expect?

I've spoken to the MHT. I was brutally honest. Childhood abuse etc

She said she would ring me back -she has and wants to refer me to the Crisis Team at the local hospital? Apparently they can visit me at home -or I can go to them. I'm a single mum and working full time and I have stuff to do?

What can I expect to happen?

I'm worried they will want to section me or something?

Well done! Like the previous poster said reaching out for help takes courage. They won’t section you. You’ve reached out for help. They only detain people who are at risk to themselves and or others and who can’t see that help is required at that moment in time. But that’s not you. The CRISIS Team will support you and it’s a really good step to take ❤️.

They said I wasn't severe enough for any intervention and said to go back to my GP and look at counselling.

The Crisis Team support people in immediate crisis, it's short term help to stabilise a person and/ or get them to the most appropriate service.

What help is it that you're looking for, do you feel you're at risk of immediate harm? If you're looking for therapy, and have not previously had therapeutic input, you can self refer. Search for IAPT + your area and that will take you to the appropriate site. They don't deal with more complex issues, but can refer you on if they feel you need more specialist help.

Aw no, sounds like you have just gone in a big circle. Are there any mental health charities local to you that could help? There is a lot of help out there that is not NHS.
