Teenage son ADHD

My 19 year old son was told by college they suspected he had undiagnosed ADHD. He is currently on the waiting list for assessment. His executive function is awful. He has always had a part time job of some sort but the last one finished due to Covid. He has been offered a new job in a bar but their method of communication with staff is Facebook. DS does not generally use Facebook and is terrible at remembering to check messages or e mails despite prompting. He has missed two messages regarding his training and understandably the manager is unhappy with him. DS was anxious about starting a new job anyway as he always is until he settles in. He is a good and reliable worker but needs clear instructions. Should he explain this to his manager or walk away from this job as he feels he has already messed up and try a fresh start somewhere else ?. He is now saying he didn’t want the job anyway as he anxious about starting. Assuming they still want him . Are other people honest about their ADHD at the start . His previous manager didn’t believe him as no formal diagnosis but it’s just taking so long at present .

He needs to ensure he gets clear, instant, loud and unmissable Facebook and FB Messenger notifications. So he needs to adjust those settings.

I know. I have suggested this to him. He gets angry if I keep reminding him. I do think he should explain his difficulty to his manager just so she is aware. He works really well once he knows what he is doing but is so anxious starting something new .
