I am so chuffed for my dh - this is what he has done today:

Got up at the same time as the rest of us
Took the kids to school then went food shopping (having planned what we needed in advance)
Rang various people like the council that he needed to deal with (anyone with depression knows just how hard it can be to pick up the phone to do these things)
Sorted out lunch for me, him and ds1 (the rest of a lasagne he made at the w/e)
Looked after the dses whilst I went to the dentist
Only slept for an hour this afternoon, then was full of energy when he woke up
Made a curry for tomorrow, a ratatouille to go in the freezer, and coleslaw to go in the fridge
Went back to the supermarket for the stuff he forgot earlier
Made tea for the five of us
And this evening he's talking about looking for work as he feels ready to cope with something (though I'm hoping he'll go for something part time)

Hurrah for Citalopram - it's giving him his life back

Blimey.
I'll have what he's having please!
Brilliant news Miaou!

It's lovely to see him cheerful and enthusiastic about things. Getting a house has been wonderful for him too - that added security has had a much bigger impact than we expected.

Hi Miaou, good to see you. I was thinking I never "see" you around much anymore. Not sure why I clicked on this thread, but it turned out to be yours. I'm so happy for you and your DH!!!!!!

dooneygirl · 13/11/2007 05:00

I clicked on post, and realized I've name-changed. How's this for a clue: I'm American, and mommy to Colin and Caitlin.

Hi Miaou - great news for your DH. Depression really does affect the whole family doesn't it? So pleased to hear things are going well.

It was your DH who had the incident with the driving/ads and alcohol wasn't it? Have wondered from time to time how all that panned out but forgot to ask.

Fingers crossed it is all onwards and upwards now!

Miaou · 13/11/2007 08:43

Hello dooneygirl, was thinking about you just the other day!! Lovely to see you again. (I'm not around as much as I was as I had another baby - got four now!)

Buda - yes that was dh. He was just getting himself on his feet when that happened and it really knocked him back. He got his licence back in the summer but his depression has been really bad for the last six months and he's only now coming out of a bad place. Onwards and upwards

Lots of love to you all XXX

Miaou · 13/11/2007 08:59

Aw thank you! Didn't mean to make you cry Marina

MamaG thank you, I think family members have a tough time of it and that's often overlooked
