I am really struggling with my motivation. I wonder if it has been a "thing" for a while, but it certainly has been since lockdown.

I put off specific tasks constantly. Not necessarily onerous ones - sometimes the tasks that are simple and meaningful. For example, it might be an email I don't reply to. Or when I get online orders that I need to return, I take so long that I miss the deadline and don't get a refund. So I have clothes I don't want but paid a lot for.

It is impacting me in a wider way too. I am single and child free.

Sorry, it posted accidentally.

Single and children. Home from work at 5 most nights but struggle to achieve anything. Would be fine, but I am currently meant to be completing a professional development course and am not doing so in time. I have tried to purchase a house but failed because I pissed off the various professionals involved by not replying to emails or calls for several days.

I will even replace the things I'm meant to be doing with other virtuous things, like non-urgent work projects, tidying and cleaning, or exercising. Always telling myself "you'll do the really important thing just after" and then after, thinking "well of course you're too tired to do the really important thing, and besides, you deserve a break"

Any thoughts what it is? Or am I just lazy?

It's so common it has a name procrastination.

I'm the absolute best at ordering stuff online and even getting the returns labels on but never quite getting to the post office.

I have admin that will take literally 5 minutes but leave it for days and days and then it starts to stress me out..

I've done it my whole life, I'm not a lazy person at all, I'm intelligent, career focused and get stuff done.

But on most days there are about 4-5 things I've not done!! It's so annoying to me.

One thing I did find was setting the alarm early once a week I did a Wednesday and set aside 2 hours for my "sticky jobs" these are the things I've been avoiding.
