Anti depressants

I'm finally ready to conclude I need to go on them. I can't go on like this.

I've been on citaloptam before, twice. Once it gave me such anxiety I had to come off it. Prior to that time it had worked well. I have been on sertraline around 2 years ago. It destroyed my libido and ability to orgasm so I came off it.

For those reasons, I'm cautious about going on anything again but I need to. I feel suicidal at times. Can anyone advise on different ADs or managing side effects, or any advice really 🙏🏻

It’s great that you have come to that conclusion and acceptance but you need to know it’s not a quick fix I’m on mirtazapine it’s a great antidepressant but it’s made me put on a lot of weight
I’m currently going through a crisis myself so maybe I’m not the right person to advise but just wanted to hand hold I know how difficult it can be and well done on the first step

Thank you for replying. I've been on them in the past without hesitation but feel so wary this time. I'm so sorry you're having a difficult time too.

Just take them what’s the worst that can happen it can’t make you feel any worse?
And be kind to yourself your not a failure for going. Back to them it’s part of healing and what up I need right now and it’s great that you can see this as a lot of people don’t

But they might make be feel worse, that's the thing I'm worried about. I might develop anxiety symptoms again. I might lose my libido or be unable to orgasm.

Making things worse is what I'm worried about. I'm interested in others experiences with different types of ADs

Yes you mighty loose your libido or gain weight etc but if your mood is affecting your day to day life then you deserve to give it a chance I’m not saying just go there and accept whatever they are offering but research your symptoms/diagnosis and see what’s best suits your need and don’t be afraid to change of it doesn’t work for you but if you feel like you don’t want/need them then that’s fine too

I'm on Amitriptyline. Doesn't affect sex drive or orgasm the way SSRIs did but does give me a dry mouth and I have gained weight.

If you feel worse after a few weeks you just stop taking them.
