Increasing fluoxetine from 20mg to 40mg

Hi, wondered if anyone has been in the same boat! I have been on a low dose of fluoxetine for years but recently (probably due to covid) I have had a relapse of my anxiety. Doc has prescribed an increase in fluoxetine to 40mg. Has anyone else done this? How long does it take to work if you’re already on them? Looking for positive replies! X

I upped from 20mg to 60mg in December due to having a mental breakdown. The transition was easy, no side effects and I would say it took a good 6 weeks to really notice the difference. Things didn't get worse in those 6 weeks which of course is a huge positive.

Glad you managed the transition well and you are feeling good. I was hoping it might kick in sooner than that but will have to be patient!

Hi @Mrsbrooks1 , well it worked! I would say it took about 6 weeks to really feel back to Normal. I’m still on this dose and am thinking about coming back down again. Will see how it goes!
