Hello. Sorry you're feeling like this. I'm awake because I've just had surgery and can't get comfortable. Take care. Hope you have a good day.

naughtyball · 16/02/2021 04:07

Yes this happens to me all the time and it's really annoying. I wake 2-3 hours after going to sleep then can't get back off again.

I woke at 2.30am on Friday, could t get back to sleep and then had to do a whole day at work. It was awful!

Sorry you are going through this too.

jammydoggers1922 · 16/02/2021 04:24

Thankyou both for replying . I wouldn't wish this on anyone . I have phoned the doctor a few times but the only thing they have done is up my sertraline . Which doesn't seem to be helping

I was prescribed Sertraline too. Started taking it and kept waking with a really thick head and headache which lasted all morning so I stopped taking them.

I wake most nights at 3am with a dry face and itching..I call it the 3am itch! It's def peri menopause.
You're not alone. Flowers

LHReturns · 16/02/2021 04:29

What is your job? Will be ok on little sleep?

Perhaps you could also get a box of zolpidem tablets to get you safely to sleep while you get sertraline to the right level. The Z tablets are just back for a terrible night.

lljkk · 16/02/2021 04:31

Have you lost > 1 hr sleep?
Will caffeine help you get thru?
One day at a time.

Landlubber2019 · 16/02/2021 04:31

I am awake too, my DC has stolen all the covers and left me freezing!

I am sorry op that you are worrying, it's always worse at night when all is quiet. Hope you manage to get some rest later in the day 😘

Invisiblewoman1 · 16/02/2021 04:32

Me too! I wake frequently over night and if I start thinking then anxiety creeps in and I can’t get back to sleep. I’m thoroughly exhausted as a result. I separated from my husband 3 years ago and it’s mainly him and the separation I replay over and over.

I hope work is ok for you today. Loneliness is an awful feeling, please know you are not alone in how you feel.

maldivemoment · 16/02/2021 05:13

Hi jammy

Happy to keep you company. I’m regularly waking at 4 every morning. Dreadful anxiety. It’s pretty shit, eh?
Just want to let you know you’re not on your own.

middleager · 16/02/2021 05:24

I feel your pain. This is my typical wake up time. I've suffered from anxiety and insomnia for years.

However, taking Fluoxetine for anxiety (tablet taken in the morning) these past 2 months has made my insomnia worse. I'm waking up and my mind and heart are racing.

I'll probably drift back in a couple of hours for an hour, but only as I'm not in work this week. Normally, I will get up and be exhausted after averaging a few hours' sleep a night.

It's horrible isn't it?

jammydoggers1922 · 16/02/2021 05:26

Hi everyone I am in work now . Half dead lol . I really appreciate everyone's replies ❤️ I seriously don't know how long I can cope with feeling like this . Constant turning in my stomach and worrying about anything and everything ! The joys of anxiety !

joystir59 · 16/02/2021 05:29

I'm awake because my dog is ill and I've been up and down all night with him. At the moment I'm laying wrapped in the duvet on the floor so he can be with me and have some comfort (my bed too high for him).

joystir59 · 16/02/2021 05:30

I don't sleep well anyway, terrible anxiety since my partner died in July

profilechange · 16/02/2021 05:32

I'm awake too. My head is racing, think my partner is going to end it with me so just going through every scenario in my head. I just want to sleep and not think about it, but my body has other ideas

TheoriginalLEM · 16/02/2021 05:39

Awake here too, worrying about losing my job.

jammydoggers1922 · 16/02/2021 05:45

I'm so sorry 😢 reading all of your replies makes me think I have no right to feel the way I am because I'm not going through anything like most of you on here .

Il will reply when I can . I hope you all can manage some rest ❤️

jammy, I’m feel the same when I see all the ‘legitimate’ reasons for insomnia. However I’ve also learned to be kind to myself on that front and accept that I am still allowed to feel hard done by because I’m not sleeping well. I think mine might be related to the peri-menopause. Anyone else? That coupled with health anxiety makes for a grim night sometimes!

Have you tried Magnesium supplements?
Also, I have the Calm app on my phone & the sleep time stories sometimes work a treat. Would definitely recommend it.

Landlubber2019 · 17/02/2021 13:54

@joystir59 so sorry for your loss Flowers

@jammydoggers1922 please don't compare your reasons for not sleeping to others. We all have reasons to feel worry and anxiety and your reasons are no less valid than anyone elses. Be kind to yourself Flowers

BooseysMom · 17/02/2021 21:30

@maldivemoment.. I posted up thread to say I think my insomnia is peri menopause related too. I get scary racing heart, anxiety and itching all over but esp my face. I expect another night of it tonight. I'm 49 today and feel properly miserable. Lock down birthdays are as bad as I've been told Sad

maldivemoment · 17/02/2021 22:48

@BooseysMom

Maybe see you at 3am? 😆

Laughing now. I won’t be when it comes. Seriously had enough of this shit.

Still, good to know we’re not alone.

maldivemoment · 17/02/2021 22:50

@BooseysMom

PS Happy birthday!

I’m currently gulping a mug of that pukka night time tea. 🤞🏻

BooseysMom · 18/02/2021 14:24

@maldivemoment . Only just got your posts..thank you very much! I have had a bit of a shit morning and not a great birthday either..too long a story to go into here but I think I had a sudden massive drop in oestrogen..something I don't need on my birthday!

So were you awake at 3?? I didn't wake till 5!

Yes we're def not alone x

maldivemoment · 18/02/2021 15:16

@BooseysMom
Never drinking that effing tea again. I saw 1, 2, 3,4 & 5. Soooo hideous! Then had to put in a days work (teacher so lots of live lessons 😩) and get my own 2 wee ones through their home learning.
As tired as I am I’m now kind of dreading bedtime...

Maybe going to make an apt to see GP re HRT. Not got a clue right enough so think I’ll head over to the Menopause board for some light reading!

Sorry your birthday wasn’t great. 💐

BooseysMom · 18/02/2021 17:35

@maldivemoment.. thanks for the flowers Smile Feeling better now. What is that pukka tea?!
My DH is a teacher and completely feels your pain!
I did try HRT patches but they didn't help. I'll have to go back to the gp. I hope you get something sorted. I really need to as well so pm me if you like and we can keep each other going Smile
Good luck. x
