Off work with stress - dealing with colleagues

How do you deal with colleagues when you've been signed off with stress? I have someone who I don't work with but is in the same office as me asking me where I am and whats going on? She is just being nosey and I don't trust her not to gossip about me.

You ignore.

Ilikecurrybest · 08/02/2021 22:07

Agree definitely ignore

Or just say. Not well, see you in a few weeks. And then disengage.

If I were close to the person I would probably just tell them the truth, but certainly not someone you feel is only asking out of nosiness.

BlowDryRat · 08/02/2021 22:12

Ignore. Or stop a quick text: 'I'm having some health issues. Don't really want to talk about it. Hopefully back soon x'

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 08/02/2021 22:12

If you don’t want anyone to know say nothing/ignore.

I dread being off work for any reason. nothing personal seems to be secret here.

Ingvermama · 09/02/2021 17:24

I have told someone nosey that I was having a breakdown. That soon shut them up!

tired2021 · 09/02/2021 17:27

How is she asking? If messages/texts etc... one text to say sorry I'm not in work right now. Anything urgent please contact x person then ignore. If face to face "just having some personal time out."

partyatthepalace · 09/02/2021 17:41

Just say not well, see you in a few weeks as PP said. And if she asks again just repeat it a couple of times, and after that ignore it till she gets back, after which if she asks what was up repeat the same thing a couple times, then stop answering her.

Some people are dull. No choice but to be dull in response.

Hope you feel better soon.
