Anxiety ups and downs

Started with panic attacks and anxiety before Xmas. Not my first go on the merry go round, but first time in about ten years Sad

Started on 50mg Sertraline and beta blockers to take the edge off. Upped to 100mg three weeks ago. I’ve definitely felt more myself over past few weeks, but the anxiety has crept up again past few days.

Just had my first huge panic attack in weeks 😢

Are these ups and downs to be expected? I feel seasick from it all. Should I try another antidepressant? Persevere with this?
There is possibly an element of PMT around the past few days, but on a whole other level to normal.

How do you cope with feeling like you’re getting better, only to crash back down so hard??

I'm sorry, yes it is so hard and unfortunately some ups and downs are not unusual but could be worth making a follow up appointment with your GP to talk over the meds and how you've been feeling. It's an anxious time. I also stay away from caffeine and alcohol (fun, I know), try and do a decent walk as often as I can and have a heavy blanket which I reckon helps (have a look at weighted blankets if you haven't already). All the best and hope you're feeling better soon

Thank you Smile

Yes, I’ve ditched tea and alcohol too. Makes this lockdown rather dull!

I will look into weighted blankets, they sound lovely.

I was awake at 4 again and struggling. Will take it easy this weekend.

I have been teaching online from school, just getting that routine in place really helped. I gave started CBT so hoping that will help too.

I’m just hoping this dip is hormonal and I’ll feel better again next week!
