Cerazette and prozac

I was prescribed 20mg prozac after DD1, with CBT - the combination really helped my quite bad PND. I never had PMT (whereas I had before) and I could cope with lifes ups and downs and was dealing with my depression - however I unexpectantly fell pregnant when DD1 was 9 months (we were not using any contraception...well we were supposed to be using condoms...) I took prozac throughout the pregnancy apart from a week before and after the birth. Determined not to fall pregnant again I went on the mini pill ( I can't take the combined pill as I get migraines). I was prescribed Cerazette which I have found a nightmare for the the first 3-4 months with irregular spotting - but I am wondering whether it is negating the effects of prozac, I am feeling fed up, useless, lacking motivation and enthusiasm for anything, feel I can't cope, want to disappear. Not sure whether I need a higher dose of prozac - I am scared to stop taking the mini pill incase I get pregnant. Has anyone had any similar experiences? I have read the threads on Cerazette making people 'mad' but noone has said whether they were on prozac as well.
This is my first post so apologies if any glaring errors!

gave up on cerazette beacuse the bleeding never stopped and my hair started to fallout in handfuls. Some people on here do think it has been good for them .Part of my problem was aenemia so bleeding all the time for months on end did not solve that.

can you talk to your Gp? I think your concerns are perfectly reasonable and the gp should be able to help.

Cerazette made my PND, treated with alprazolam at the time, much, much worse. Really, really, really bad.

in fact, i became so depressed i actually thought i'd rather be pregnant again than feel that bad.

i never stopped bleeding, had no sex drive, got spots so bad they bled.

i stopped taking that shit. it works for some, but it didn't for me.

i was also on sertraline.

i'd been told i couldn't use the implant or depo because of my depression.

they tried to hard-sell the Mirena to me, but after that HORRIBLE experience with progesterone i said NO way.

Thanks for sharing your experiences - just called the Doctors and got an appt this afternoon. Originally I looked at implants and they suggested the Mirena coil too but the fitting puts me off - the other coil the one that doesn't give out hormones is a possibility but I would prefer to try and find a pill that works!

I'm on Cerazette and 20mg Prozac - I had irregular bleeding for quite a few months, but a year on my periods have stopped. I do get PMT type blips of depression which I suspect may be related to the Cerazette. When I was on another type of Mini-Pill (Micronor) I got terrible depression prior to having a period, so I found that even worse. So I think you may be spot on that the Cerazette could be affecting your mood, and am glad you are speaking to GP about it.

If I do have to stop the Cerazette, I would change to non-hormonal coil, as you seem to be considering. Like expat i wouldn't touch a hormonal coil with a bargepole - don't want to risk something long lasting inside me that might adversely affect my mental healt.

thanks for your messages and advice - they told me that a hormonal coil would only effect my ovaries and womb not my whole system so I shouldn't be put off by the hormonal (progesterone) coil- however I am more sceptical. Off the mini-pill for now and having an think about the non-hormonal coil!
