I started Sertraline 2 months ago and it's been incredibly helpful for managing my anxiety and related sleep issues. My anxiety is partly situational... but I've also come to realise from taking the medication and feeling so much better that I've maybe had some level of anxiety since childhood - being hypervigilant, always 'on', racing mind, etc.
I'm in no rush to stop the Sertraline although I don't really want to take them forever... but I'll be honest and say that I don't know how to feel better naturally! Before all of this, I exercised regularly, went outdoors daily, had healthy lifestyle, etc. It didn't seem to be enough to stop me from spiralling (but I needed all of these things to feel ok in normal life).
Since starting Sertraline, I've had a much calmer mind and have been more able to meditate daily. I really like it, although I'm not sure if it could ever replace the effect of the medication.
Anyone made meaningful lifestyle changes to come off anti-depressants? What did you do? Thanks 😊
