Sertraline and jaw trembling/teeth chattering

Is this a side effect or something else? It’s very mild but my mouth/jaw feels slightly shaky and if I try to bring my front teeth together they ‘chatter.’ I was on 50 mg until 2 or 3 months ago then went up to 100mg. I do grind my teeth at night and my jaw has been feeling tighter when I wake in the morning.

I have tried just about every AD there is and Sertraline is the only one that works for me, but at any dose over 50mg my jaw clenches constantly. As I started at 150mg it was unbearable; headaches, damage to teeth etc. What made the difference was buspirone, a muscle relaxant. I researched it myself but had to get to see a psychiatrist to get it prescribed. A small amount, just 10mg a day made all the difference to getting the therapeutic effects of the sertraline without the side effects. Buspirone does interact with a number of other drugs (e.g. epilepsy drugs) so it needs careful consideration and management by your doctor.

I have had teeth grinding with all the SSRIs and SNRIs (yes, been through the lot over the years). Teeth grinding that was so bad it gave me headaches that felt like sinusitis. I am just coming off venlafaxine for this reason, replacing it with Trazodone which is in a different class of antidepressant.

It is a known side effect but usually lessens as you get used to it. My jaw clenching was terrible when I first started but it's fine now :).
