Olanzipine and weight gain

Hi all, I've been on olanzipine since October for postnatal psychosis and in that time have gained a massive 1 and a half stone. Admittedly throughout December my diet was poor but I've been on slimming world for 2 weeks, walked 70 miles and still gained half a lb! I'm only on 5mg and really want to come off it which I'll discuss with my consultant on the 11th of feb.

Does anyone have any experience of olanzipine and weight gain? Can I expect it to come off reasonably quickly when I come off it? The weight gain is really destroying my confidence

I was on it years ago , I think it was only 2mg but put over a stone on in a short space of time .
I asked to change it , now on aripirazole which doesn't effect my weight Smile

It's definitely known for weight gain - I was given it in small doses as a sleeping aid and my psychiatrist said they often used to give it in hospitals to anorexics because it caused weight gain.

I was on 20mg for ten years I cut my eating down to one small meal a day and swam 60 lengths every day which slowed the weight gain down but still gained 3 and 1/2 stone size 10-18 I been off it 6 months now and while I've gained no more I haven't lost any.

But I was the most stable and happy on it
