Mirtazapine - experiences

Hi everyone, my doctor has prescribed me Mirtazapine as I've been experiencing some health issues and symptoms that have been causing anxiety and insomnia.
The first night I took it I was absolutely knocked out from around 11pm till 7am and then I felt groggy and fell back asleep for a little while.
For the last two nights it has definitely helped me sleep but not with the same effect at all.
Does anyone know if the body builds a tolerance to this med and will eventually stop working for sleep?
I do feel like it is controlling the anxiety but it has also numbed me and I'm unable to cry even though I feel I need a good sob.

Hi OP, I took it for 10 or 11 months and it never stopped making me drowsy, I guess it can affect different people in different ways though.

I’ve chronic insomnia and it didn’t help that but overall I feel it’s been worth taking.

I haven’t had any noticeable unwanted effects and I feel ‘dialled down’ in anxiety levels enough to try additional help, but not so much as I am not experiencing feelings (I’m just more able to cope)

I've been taking it for about 2 years, and about 30 mins after taking it I'm asleep, whether I want to be or not. Lost count of how many times I've dropped my phone on my face!
If you drink any alcohol at all, expect to be very very drowsy. That is something I have built a tolerance to, I can now have one drink without falling asleep immediately, but no more than one.
Ive just been increased from 35mg to 45mg, and it's definitely much harder to wake up in the mornings. (and it wasn't easy before!)

Thanks for the responses. Hopefully it will carry on working as it's the only thing making me sleep for longer than 45 min bursts at the moment.
